In June 2017, ICS Technical College opened its doors in the lakeside city of Kisumu. The ICS Technical College Kisumu Branch is located at Eco Bank Building, 1st Floor, Oginga Odinga Road, Kisumu City CBD. The branch was established to provide affordable, quality education and to help residents pursue their career goals.
Modern Facilities and Practical Learning
The Kisumu campus is fully equipped with modern facilities to ensure high-quality training throughout the term. Each department emphasizes practical lessons to complement classroom theory. The management also encourages educational trips, tours, and a strong student welfare program to support holistic learning.
Student Leadership
On 10th February 2018, the Kisumu campus held its first Student Union elections. The process was free, fair, and democratic. All candidates and their agents accepted the results, with official declaration forms signed to confirm transparency.
Debate Competitions
April 2018 was filled with major events. On 13th April 2018, the campus organized a Debate Competition with strong student participation. The motions included:
-
Television has caused more harm than good
-
Capitalism is a better way of reducing poverty than socialism
-
Legalizing euthanasia would bring more good than harm
These debates encouraged students to expand their worldview, sharpen their communication, and develop confidence. They also inspired innovation, critical thinking, and leadership skills.
Annual Sports Day
On 20th April 2018, the Kisumu Branch hosted its Annual Sports Day at Jomo Kenyatta Sports Ground. Students and staff competed in football, basketball, netball, volleyball, and sack races. Trophies were awarded to the top three schools. The event showcased exceptional talent and gave students the chance to bond, stay active, and enjoy healthy competition.
Teen Talent Search
On 21st April 2018, the Kisumu campus held a Teen Talent Search at Pandi Pieri Primary School. Guest artists included Student Union President Brenda Achieng, Swaleh (Pod Apek), Sara Otieno, and KRTC Maskas. Students displayed talents in rap, spoken word, modeling, and singing. The college continues to nurture creativity through clubs such as Drama and Music.
Community Engagement
These activities also served a noble cause—raising funds for the needy. Donations included foodstuff, clothes, shoes, stationery, and utensils. The initiative reflected the college’s commitment to community service and social responsibility.
ICT Excellence and Industry Exposure
ICS Technical College has a strong foundation in ICT. The Ministry of ICT even recognized the institution as a Digital Village. The Kisumu Branch invests heavily in this department to provide students with top-quality education. On 27th April 2018, ICT and Engineering students visited the KRA Regional Office at Swan Centre. They learned about system operations and received practical lessons from facilitators.
Commitment to Growth
As the years progress, the ICS Technical College Kisumu Branch continues to expand. With a focus on education, talent development, leadership, and innovation, the college proves why it is proudly recognized as The Best College in Kenya.
